ABOUTBragg is a a performing songwriter from St. John’s, Newfoundland, who writes mostly dark narrative fiction songs. For twenty years or so he has been working with excellent musicians who back him up on super high energy shows in small bars.
On March 29, Bragg is releasing a laid back, “listening” type album called “Winter”.“I had a bunch of low key jams kicking around for a while, and I finally decided to give them a home.”
QUOTES“Delicate yet gruff, sad yet playful, humble yet grand, all at the same time… it’s unmistakably Mark Bragg: squinting sideways at the heartbreak and violence of life, somehow with a grimace and a grin and a tear in his eye all at once… A treat to hear new music from a commanding local voice who hasn’t been heard from for awhile, but who has clearly been growing stronger in the dark. A bear come through “Winter” say, hungry for spring.” – Tim Baker, Hey Rosetta“Listening to Winter is a bit of a revelation. It’s the first Mark Bragg album where I’ve fully appreciated his modus operandi as a songwriter. He approaches songwriting, not as an exercise in cryptic self-expression, but as an author setting imaginative narratives against off-kilter characters and minor chords… there’s a maturity here that makes the songs on Winter some of Mark Bragg’s finest.” – Sandy May, The OvercastDATESThu Mar 29 The Ship, St. John’sSat Mar 31 Fred’s Records, St. John’sFri Apr 06 The Backlot, Corner BrookFri Apr 13 The Rotary Arts Centre, Corner BrookSat Apr 21 National Arts Centre, OttawaSat Apr 28 Cottage Hospital, Norris PointFri May 25 The Cat Stop, Norris PointSan Jun 02 Norton’s Cove Studio, BrookfieldSat Nov 24 Citadel House, Lewisporte“Winter” Drops March 29 on CD and VinylTICKETSTickets and presales available now at www.markbragg.comINTERVIEWSFor interview or review requests, contact Mark Bragg709 743 2873LINKSFacebook event, St. John’sFacebook event, Corner Brook:Facebook event, Ottawa
