Folk \ Blues \ Jazz
Arlene is not only a strong supporter of local music and the arts, but she takes it head on by being one of the many important faces and voices behind the scenes. A long-time volunteer with the NL Folk Arts Society, many acts will recognize her as the one heading up the registration tent at the annual festival in Bannerman Park, or covering the door at the Ship on Folk Nights. She also volunteers with countless other organizations and groups such as The Kidney Foundation Atlantic Branch, St. John's Chapter, World Oceans Day Event held at The Fisheries and Marine Institute where she's the lead of the Welcome Desk, The Storytelling Festival, The Feile Seamus Creigh Festival, Foleymore Productions, Wreckhouse Jazz and Blues Festival who value her contribution greatly.
She also lends her hand to musicians she's made friends with at a variety of their shows throughout the year. She's the most dependable and dedicated person out there. In addition, she's a strong advocate for new and older talents in the province in the pubs and the theatres, and also online through her Twitter and Facebook account.
Arlene is a fixture in the music industry and is very deserving of the volunteer of the year nomination from MusicNL.
