Kyle McDavid is a music, theatre, and graphic design educator and the founder and co-Artistic Director of Best Kind Productions (most recently directing James & The Giant Peach, Honk!, The Pirates of Penzance, [title of show], and music directing Red Rock, Fun Home, Urinetown, Avenue Q). Kyle is also a freelance graphic designer (clients include Shallaway, NSO, NSYO, and more), a 2-time nominee for MusicNL’s Educator of the Year award (2016, 2017) and Graphic Designer of the Year award (2017). He is the writer/composer of the original musical, Impresario, based on the life of St. John’s-born Broadway legend, John Murray Anderson, which premiered in May 2017 at the LSPU Hall in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Recent writing projects include Red Rock with Dan Lasby, and How Do You Get To Jellybean Row?, which premieres in the summer of 2018 at the Bowring Park Amphitheatre. Some recent performance credits include All Shook Up as Dennis (Quidi Vidi/Rennie’s River Development Foundation), Sister Act as Joey (Atlantic Light Theatre), Jesus Christ Superstar (TaDa! Events), Monty Python’s Spamalot as Bedevere/Knight Who Says Ni (Atlantic Light Theatre), The Addams Family as Fester (Peter MacDonald Productions), Anything Goes as Moonface Martin (PMP), Spelling Bee as Panch (BKP), The Complete Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (Shakespeare by the Sea), Bedtime Stories, and more. He has directed/performed in theatre productions in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Ontario, and is an alumnus of Up with People (touring North America and Europe for a year with their production Roads in 1999-2000.)
