Steve Maloney is a troubadour from Newfoundland with a voice of velvety comfort. His unique brand of alternative folk music has brought him around Canada and beyond. A debut album with his group the Wandering Kind received praise from the east coast's music community. It was shortlisted for the Borealis Music Prize, received two ECMA nominations, and took home MusicNL's Rising Star award. Since that release, Maloney and his band have been touring eastern Canada with stops at Halifax Pop Explosion, the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival, Writer's at Woody Point, Wreckhouse Jazz and Blues Festival, and many more. With a musical exchange in Barbados care of Bell Aliant, and slots opening for respected acts such as; Wintersleep, Amelia Curran, Hey Rosetta!, Hawksley Workman, The Wooden Sky, By Divine Right, Bahamas, Basia Bulat, and more. Steve was recently the songwriter in residence with the Dawson City Music Festival (January 2017). A new album is in currently being finished. Produced by Joshua Van Tassel it features guests; the Weather Station, Drew Jurecka, and members of Great Lake Swimmers (Summer 2017).
