ANNOUNCING THE EQUINOR MUSICNL NEWFOUND TALENT CONTEST!

 

Equinor and MusicNL are proud to present the Equinor MusicNL NewFound Talent Contest at the 42nd Annual Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival in Bannerman Park for the fifth consecutive year.

The NewFound Talent Contest is designed to discover, develop, encourage and showcase young entertainers. The competition offers professional development prizes valued at over $6,000 to aid talented young performers enhance their songwriting, performing and music business skills. The event culminates on Sunday night where the first place winner of the contest will perform on the festival’s TD Main Stage with some of the world’s finest performers in front of a large audience.

“Equinor is proud to present the Equinor MusicNL NewFound Talent Contest, this year as part of a longstanding partnership with MusicNL,” says Unni Fjaer, VP, Offshore Newfoundland for Equinor Canada. “We are delighted to have the opportunity once again, to bring together, and celebrate a community of aspiring, talented young musicians in Newfoundland and Labrador.”

Young musicians aged 19 and under will perform for a panel of professional judges and an audience on August 4th. The contest will take place on the TD Neil Murray Stage for youth performers, which is devoted to showcasing and fostering young talent.

“The Equinor MusicNL NewFound Talent Contest is a phenomenal way for us to identify our future stars while they are still developing,” says Glenda Tulk, Executive Director of MusicNL. “This contest provides young musicians with expert mentorship and performance exposure.

“It is one of our most important all-ages initiatives and certainly one of our favourite events. MusicNL is pleased to work with the Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival and Equinor again this year on this exciting project.”

Individuals interested in applying for the contest can do so by filling out this form by July 20: https://marcatoapp.com/forms/musicnl/2018equinormusicnlnewfoundtalentcontest.

Participants must be under 19 years of age. They must perform one song, either an original or a cover, and must either play the song live themselves or be accompanied by a live musician (no backing tracks).
