St. John’s, NL: MusicNL Week 2017 to be held in St. John’s, NL October 12-16 will honour 25 years of industry building and host export development program
The year 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of MusicNL. The organization has provided millions of dollars in support to the music industry, professional development and has encouraged export development to outside markets. The creation of MusicNL was spurred by the initiative of the founding members and the talent and enterprise of artist and industry professionals.
As such, the organization will place a strong focus on export development in 2017. MusicNL plans to strengthen the music industry in Newfoundland and Labrador by enhancing and diversifying export activities through a robust export development program to members at MusicNL Week 2017. In addition this program, the organization will create an export development strategy to set the stage for upcoming export ready artists.
Looking to the past to guide the future
“MusicNL is committed to honouring the past leaders of the music industry and helping to raise up new leaders,” says Glenda Tulk, Executive Director of MusicNL. “This year we look to the future of music in this province and to do that, we must look to the past as well, and the founding members of this organization”
MusicNL recognizes the need to attract key industry members from international markets to Newfoundland and Labrador. The organization will seek out relevant professionals for the export development program to be presented at MusicNL Week 2017. In honour of the 25th anniversary, MusicNL will be inviting 25 export buyers from Europe, Canada and the United States to attend MusicNL Week and seek out talent from this region. MusicNL invites export ready artists to apply for export showcases. As in past years, there will be juried showcases for which applicants are not required to be export ready.
