NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR ARTS COUNCIL

The Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council, known as ArtsNL, is a non-profit Crown agency created in 1980 by The Arts Council Act. Its mission is to foster and promote the creation and enjoyment of the arts for the benefit of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. ArtsNL receives an annual grant from the Province to support a variety of granting programs, office administration, and communications. It also seeks support from the public and private sector. It supports these artistic disciplines: dance, film, multidiscipline, music, theatre, visual art, and writing.

 

Available funding:

Professional Projects Program: The Professional Project Grants Program (PPGP) is available to professional artists and professional arts groups creating and/or presenting works of art in the disciplines of dance, film, music, multidisciplinary arts, theatre, visual arts, or writing. Grants support project costs related to creation, production, administration, travel, professional development, etc.

Deadlines: September 15, 2017; March 15, 2018

Sustaining Program for Professional Arts Organizations: The Sustaining Program for Professional Arts Organizations (SPPAO) is available to professional arts organizations that further the arts of Newfoundland and Labrador. Grants support administration, operating, and production/ presentation costs.

Deadline: February 1, 2018

Annual Operating Program for Arts Organizations: The Annual Operating Program for Professional Arts Organizations (AOPPAO) program is available to professional not-for-profit arts organizations. Applicants can apply for costs involved in operating the organization, and creating, presenting or producing artistic works including artist and technician fees, venue rentals, administration cost, and travel expenses.

Community Arts Program: The Community Arts Program (CAP) is available to community-based arts organizations and groups. The program funds projects related to arts workshops, presentations, productions, new creations, adjudicator fees, artist fees, and travel costs.

Professional Artists’ Travel Fund: The Professional Artists’ Travel Fund (PATF) is available to professional artists and groups invited to take part in unexpected activities that will enhance their careers. Such activities would include the presentation, development, or celebration of the artist’s work.

ArtsSmarts: ArtsSmarts is funded through the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development’s Cultural Connections Strategy, the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association (NLTA), and ArtsNL. In Newfoundland and Labrador ArtsSmarts is managed by ArtsNL.

School Touring Program: The School Touring Program (STP) is available to professional artists, groups, and not-for-profit arts organizations to support significant touring productions to schools throughout the province. Offered in partnership with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development through its Cultural Connections Strategy, the program provides students with direct access to high quality artistic experiences. The program covers touring costs only (i.e. travel, accommodation, per diems, artist and technician fees, tour administration, royalties, and limited rehearsal).
