As a small child, Abra Whitney’s distinctive voice and huge personality were early signs that this girl was destined for life on stage. Born in St. John’s, Abra is an award-winning choral and solo Singer, Conductor and Educator, with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Alberta. A performer with a rare gift for interpreting script and song, she has earned rave reviews and invitations to travel and perform in other parts of the world. Committed to building her music community at home, Abra is a leader with the desire and drive to produce her own exceptional musical and theatrical work through her company Abra Whitney Productions. Abra has performed alongside such artists as Oscar Peterson and Cirque du Soleil for the nationally televised concert honouring Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee Year and performed at Carnegie Hall. She has performed with several ensembles including the Quintessential Vocal Ensemble, Shallaway, Pro Coro Canada, the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and currently Lady Cove Women’s Choir. Abra is a celebrated performer, having been on stage for many Musicals in recent years, most recently being cast as Madame de la Grande Bouche in Beauty and the Beast, 2018. Abra Whitney is a passionate singer, a tireless community builder and dedicated educator.
