Newspaper Fashion Show

Based out of St. John’s NL, Newspaper Fashion Show (Jacob Quinton, Jeremy Gillam, John Purchase, Arron Beswick and Zakk Sullivan) is a five piece Indie rock/pop band that bring high-energy performances to the stage while still keeping lyricism and songwriting at the forefront of their creative process. The Band’s debut full length release, “A Rope Against the Sun” was recorded with the always efficient and innovative Georgie Newman of GNaudio. On the record, NPFS provide catchy and danceable hooks, rhythms and guitar licks that allow them to deliver their thoughtful songwriting with pop sensibilities. However, while many songs often follow common pop structures this is not to say that the band is scared of pushing the envelope sonically. This can be seen on non-single cuts from the album like “Lesions” and “Miraculous” which have instrumental compositions do not in any way conform to the sounds of mainstream, guitar-driven rock. Since the release, Newspaper Fashion Show have garnered a large fan base in St. John’s, playing to multiple sold out crowds at The Ship and The Rockhouse consisting of fans from many different cohorts of the town. Newspaper Fashion Show’s vision is to create fun, guitar driven rock music that simultaneously delivers insightful commentary on what its like to young and a Newfoundlander in modern day Canada and the emotions that this often evokes. A Rope Against The Sun is just the tip of the iceberg for Newspaper Fashion Show as they are constantly working to refine and change their sound in order to push the boundaries of what it means to be a guitar-driven rock band in Newfoundland.
