City of St. John’s – 2019 Call for Performers

Music @ Concert Series
These performances showcase the incredible and diverse musical talent the city has to offer to both residents and visitors alike, in a family-friendly afternoon environment. Performances span genres such as jazz, folk, pop and more. Main acts are preceded by a youth performer opening act, coordinated separately through a partnership with the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society. A jury comprised of members of the local music community and representation from the City of St. John’s convene to review submissions.

Main act performances are approximately 45 minutes long. Payment ranges from $200 to $800 per performance, depending on the number of performers. Please see our Summer Concerts page for more information, including scheduled concert dates.
Cruise Season
Cruise St. John’s has designed special programming for visitors to port comprised of Dockside Welcomes and Farewell Performances.  An animated introduction to our culture is provided through music, song, dance and/or storytelling to cruise ship passengers. The program is designed to be informative, entertaining, and engaging while showcasing Newfoundland’s talent. Due to the location of the performance venue, the City of St. John’s and Cruise St. John’s Partners are unable to provide infrastructure support such as access to electricity, tenting, staging, chairs, etc. Performers are responsible for their own needs.

For successful applicants, payment typically ranges from $200 increasing to $600 subject to the number of performers, their experience and breadth of performance. Performances are often very early morning or early evening, mainly outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and span two to three hours including set-up time.

The cruise season traditionally runs from April through October.  For a full schedule of visits go to our cruise schedule webpage.
