Mr. H Presents, in partnership with MusicNL, is holding the sixth Make Music Happen songwriting conference, an annual event during which aspiring songwriters develop their ideas with well-established artists. Through a variety of workshop sessions, students will work with professionals to hone their craft, receive guidance on writing and performing, and have a chance to showcase their talents with their peers.
This year’s conference will take place over two days, with a songwriters circle capping off day one, and a student showcase finishing day two. Saturday night’s songwriters circle performance is open to the public and will feature this year’s five widely-acclaimed professional songwriters: BRDGS (Jon Pike), Jake Nicoll, Kim Harris, and Geraldine Hollett & Phil Churchill of The Once.
In addition to songwriting workshops, students will also attend other workshops covering other aspects of the music industry lead by three highly-respected local artists, Dave Connors, Kacie Callahan, and Nigel Jenkins.
The cost for the conference is $60, and space is limited. Students interested can contact Mr. H through his email: firstname.lastname@example.org. This event is open to musicians aged 12-18. For more information, visit facebook.com/mrhpresents
The songwriters circle concert will be held in the Corner Brook Regional High music room and is open to all. Tickets are $15, or $10 for students, and they are available at both Brewed Awakening locations, Gary Bennett Music, and Village Music.
