On Thursday, December 20th, Mr. H – in partnership with MusicNL and the Rotary Arts Centre – is staging his third annual Benefit for Families at the Janeway. The show will feature a line-up of student performers, as well as local well-established musicians, who will present a set of seasonal favourites, backed by the most festive house band, The Heppletones.
Showtime is 7pm, and doors will open at 6:30. As with all Mr. H events, this is a family-friendly affair.
Admission is a suggested minimum donation of $10; tickets are available online at www.rotaryartscentre.yapsody.com or at the door on the night of the performance. Those who cannot attend, but wish to contribute, can do so through email money transfer here: firstname.lastname@example.org (tax receipts will be provided).
Between admissions, donations, and money collected from the “Best of Corner Brook” raffle prize – including goods, services, and tickets to numerous events at various venues – last year’s event raised over $2000; this year there will also be a “Best of St. John’s” raffle which will includes a night at the Inn at Mallard Cottage and much more. All proceeds will go towards purchasing Cara Corporation Ultimate Dining gift cards (Swiss Chalet, Montana’s, East Side Marios, etc.), so families can enjoy some food from outside the hospital.
This event is a personal one for Mr. H, whose eldest daughter’s illness forced the Hepplestons to spend Christmas 2013 at the Janeway. To pay forward some measure of the kindness shown him, Mr. H himself will travel to the Janeway after the show to hand-deliver the gift cards.
