MusicNL Seeks Executive Director

MusicNL is a not-for-profit organization that exists to:

  • Address key issues affecting the Newfoundland & Labrador music industry in order to implement positive change by presenting a strong voice to government, business and the community at large.
  • Increase awareness locally, nationally and internationally of provincially produced music as an art form and as a viable industry with significant impact on the economy.
  • Create and encourage opportunities to stimulate growth of the industry.

 

The Board of Directors of MusicNL is seeking applications from interested, qualified professionals for the position of Executive Director.

Start Date: Monday July 20, 2020

 

Executive Director

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will assume overall responsibility for providing leadership and direction to the organization. The ED will manage all day-to-day operations of the organization, including programming, administration, event management, member services, funding, sponsorship, human resources, advocacy, and public affairs, and is responsible for all MusicNL staff, programs, expansion, and execution of the organization’s mission.

As a strong leader and facilitator, the ED will provide proper guidance and support to an experienced staff and help them achieve their own performance objectives.

As several programs are funded through government channels, the ED will liaise with key government officials to ensure open and communicative relationships exist and funding deadlines are met. Continuing to build and maintain linkages with other stakeholders, including the corporate community, sponsors, volunteers, and regional, national and international associations is paramount.

The ideal candidate will have management experience in arts administration and the cultural sector and understand the challenges of running an industry association.

The ED has a generalist background, including skills in finance, administration, human resources, policy development and program management. Ideally, fundraising and sponsorship skills should also be well-developed with well-established contacts throughout all sectors.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with a volunteer-based board and understand the relationships between staff and volunteers.

The ED must possess superior communication skills and understand how to motivate people to meet sometimes difficult and challenging objectives.

 

Compensation: Salary $55,000. Schedule requires expanded hours/flexibility during peak periods. This job is based in St. John’s, NL.
