The FACTOR Marketing and Promotion for Non-FACTOR-Funded Sound Recordings Program supports the marketing of commercially released full-length sound recordings that were not acquired or produced with FACTOR funding. The sound recording must have been commercially released and achieved a qualifying sales threshold or had a track charting on commercial radio.
Artists may apply on their own behalf if they retain the exploitation rights to the sound recording. If a record label controls the exploitation rights to the sound recording, the record label must apply. Artist applicants must have an approved applicant profile. Record labels including MEC-supported companies must have a reviewed and rated applicant profile.
How to Apply
To apply for this funding, follow the application instructions on the FACTOR website carefully.
This program has rolling deadlines. You can apply as soon as the qualifying sales threshold or radio chart position has been achieved, but no later than 12 months after commercial release.
FACTOR staff assess the eligibility of the projects and costs and make a recommendation to the Board of Directors for their approval. Assessment time is six to eight weeks from the date of application.
Payment Process and Project Completion
Funding is a grant. 50% is paid on approval and the remainder is paid on final completion of each component. The percentage of FACTOR’s contribution to each component varies between 50% and 75%, to the project maximum of $20,000, plus up to $5000 in additional funding through the Radio Marketing Component.
