Position Overview: Marketing and Communications Manager
MusicNL is seeking a dynamic and experienced Marketing and Communications professional to lead our efforts in promoting the organization’s mission, events, and initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for music with strong communication skills. This role requires creativity, communication skills, and project management abilities to elevate MusicNL’s presence and impact. While remote work from home is possible as part of a hybrid work structure, the position is based in downtown St John’s.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication strategies to promote MusicNL’s programs, events, and initiatives.
- Create and manage annual marketing plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Content Creation and Management:
- Oversee the creation of compelling content for various platforms, including website, social media, newsletters, and press releases.
- Ensure all content aligns with MusicNL’s brand voice and messaging.
- Media Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and government communications managers.
- Prepare press materials and coordinate media coverage for events and announcements.
- Event Promotion:
- Develop and execute marketing campaigns for MusicNL events, including programs, workshops, and conferences.
- Collaborate with other staff to ensure successful promotion and engagement.
- Digital Marketing:
- Manage and optimize MusicNL’s digital presence, including website, social media channels, and email marketing.
- Utilize analytics to track performance and adjust strategies as needed.
- Community Engagement:
- Foster relationships with local artists, industry professionals, and community stakeholders.
- Organize and participate in community outreach activities to promote MusicNL’s mission and initiatives.
- Brand Management:
- Maintain and enhance MusicNL’s brand identity and ensure consistency across all communications and marketing materials.
- Monitor industry trends and adapt strategies to stay relevant and effective.
- Special Projects:
- Given the evolving nature of MusicNL’s project-based planning cycle, additional project support may be required from time to time.
Ideal qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- 5+ years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably within the arts or music industry.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media platforms, and content management systems.
- Proven experience in managing media relations and developing strategic marketing plans.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for music and a deep understanding of the local music scene is highly desirable.
